James set-up the Facebook Page “Expats For Scotland Independence” in early 2012 before the official launch of Yes Scotland Capaign for Scottish Independence.
It grew quickly, attracting Scots diaspora as well as Scots in Scotland. The content focus was overseas themes, Scottish independence, other politics, promotion of Scottish business, scenery, history and a general light-heartedness.
In 2014 on the run-up to The Referendum, Gordon joined James as co-administrator. Later around 2015, Brian joined as co-administrator.
Despite the bitter disappointment of The Referendum result, we decided with the encouragement of our visitors to carry-on. We achieved the milestone of 10,000 “Likes” members in 2015 and continue to grow, with plans to expand our engagement and involvement of the Scottish expat community globally.
